King Tut exhibit returns to U.S.

 After
a quarter-century, the ancient Egyptian tomb treasures of King
Tutankhamun will make a return visit to U.S. shores, through
the King Tut exhibit.

King Tut Exhibit to travel U.S. for more
than 2 years |
The new King Tut exhibit, "Tutankhamun
and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs," will travel the U.S. for
27 months starting in June 2005. The King Tut exhibit
will make stops in Los Angeles (King Tut Exhibit at L.A. County Museum
of Art, at Ft. Lauderdale, Fla (King Tut Exhibit at Ft. Lauderdale
Museum of Art) and in Chicago (King Tut Exhibit at Field Museum of
Chicago).
King Tut exhibit features:
Among items to be featured at this King Tut exhibit
are over 130 funerary objects that have rarely or never traveled abroad
before are been part of past King Tut exhibits. The 3,300-to-3,500-year-old
artifacts come from the tombs of 18th-dynasty pharaoh Tutankhamun
and others buried in the Valley of the Kings.
King Tut exhibit last in U.S. in 70s
The last time artifacts from Tutankhamun's tomb visited the U.S. was
from 1976 to 1979. This smaller King Tut exhibit featuring the boy
king, familiarly known as King Tut, toured seven cities and attracted
record numbers—approximately eight million visitors in all.

My King Tut Exhibit experience. |
Among cities the King Tut exhibit was New Orleans.
My parents took me, my brother and sister took us to this King Tut
exhibit and though I was only 7 years old, I still remember being
quite fascinated. I did not come close to understanding the significance
of the items in the King Tut exhibit, but I do remember
thinking everything looked pretty neat! My brother, on the other hand,
who was 10 at the time of the King Tut exhibit, went crazy over everything
King Tut. He got from the King Tut exhibit a neat book, post cards,
artifact replicas and all kinds of King Tut exhibit goodies.
